Hygiene habits don't stick with reminders alone.
Our community survey found children inconsistently following basic hygiene practices, with no structured awareness beyond occasional verbal reminders — and no simple way to learn what actually matters and why.
Your first line of defence.
Most common childhood illnesses — colds, stomach infections, diarrhoea, worm infections — don't need anything dramatic to spread. They travel on unwashed hands, through unsafe water and across dirty surfaces. Good hygiene stops them before they start.
- Fewer infections passed between classmates
- Fewer missed school days
- Healthier families at home, too
Six simple habits, explained simply.
No accounts, no tracking — just clear, actionable guidance for a healthier daily routine.
Hand Hygiene
Hands carry more germs than anything else we touch. Twenty seconds with soap and water removes most of them.
- Wet, lather and scrub for 20 seconds — palms, backs, between fingers and under nails
- Before eating, after the toilet, after play, and after coughing or sneezing
- Rinse under running water and dry on a clean towel
Dental Hygiene
Healthy teeth prevent pain, infection and missed school days — and the whole habit takes four minutes a day.
- Brush twice a day, morning and night, for two minutes
- Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste
- Rinse after sugary snacks, and see a dentist if a tooth hurts
Toilet Hygiene
Clean toilet habits protect not just you, but everyone who uses the same toilet after you.
- Always flush, and leave the toilet clean for the next person
- Use toilet paper or water properly, front to back
- Wash your hands with soap every single time — no exceptions
Safe Water & Food
Most stomach infections begin with something that looked fine but wasn't clean.
- Drink only clean, safe or filtered water
- Wash fruits and vegetables before eating
- Keep food covered, and avoid food left out in the open
Personal Care
Simple personal care keeps germs away and builds everyday confidence.
- Bathe daily and wear clean clothes
- Keep nails short and clean
- Use your own towel, comb and toothbrush — never share them
Clean Surroundings
A clean space leaves germs nowhere to grow — at school, at home and outside.
- Throw waste only in dustbins
- Keep classrooms and desks tidy and dust-free
- Don't let water collect — standing water breeds mosquitoes
Grounded in a real community need.
SaniTrack grew out of a hands-on survey of a local school and neighbourhood — not a guess about what people need.
We asked the community
We visited a local school and neighbourhood and talked with students, teachers and parents about everyday hygiene.
We found the real gap
The problem wasn't a lack of care — it was a lack of simple, engaging information that actually sticks.
We made it easy to follow
We turned what we learned into six clear habits anyone can follow — no sign-up and nothing to install.
Small habits, big returns.
Hygiene isn't about perfection. It's a few small actions, done every day, that quietly add up.
- Fewer infections and sick days
- More energy and better focus in class
- Healthy habits that last into adulthood
Hygiene prevents a lot — not everything.
If something feels wrong, tell a parent or teacher and see a doctor. Don't wait if you notice:
- A fever that lasts more than two days
- Diarrhoea or vomiting that won't stop
- A cough, rash or pain that keeps getting worse
Tie every habit to a time.
Habits stick when they have a place in your day. Here's a simple routine to start with.
